Bio

Major Jose G. Murillo entered the United States Army on 15 May 1998 and completed Basic Training at Fort Benning, GA.  He completed Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, GA where he was trained for MOS 31F, Network Switching System Operator Maintainer. He later earned a commission as second lieutenant from the University of Texas at Arlington as 31A Military Police Officer.

Major Murillo’s previous assignments include Operator, A CO, 13th Signal Battalion, Ft. Hood, TX; Team Leader, B CO, 17th Signal Battalion, Kitzingen GE; Platoon Leader, 552nd Military Police Company, 728th Military Police Battalion, Schofield Barracks, HI; Company Executive Officer, 552nd Military Police Company, 728th Military Police Battalion, Schofield Barracks, HI; Operations Officer, Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 728th Military Police Battalion; Operations Officer, 4th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade Military Police Cell, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; Commander; 13th Military Police Company, 92nd Military Police Battalion, Ft. Leonard Wood, MO; Deputy Director / Recovery Team Leader, Expeditionary Support Directorate, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, Joint Base Pearl Harbor–Hickam Hawaii.

Major Murillo’s civilian education includes a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Master of Arts in Business and Organizational Security Management from Webster University. His military education includes Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Officer Leader Course, Military Police Basic Officer Leader Course, Police Transition Team (Afghan/GWOT), Domestic Violence Intervention Training, Antiterrorism Officer (Basic), Military Police Captains Career Course, Law Enforcement for Senior Leaders Course, Combatives Level 1, and the Common Faculty Instructor Course.

His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (3 OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Good Conduct Medal (1 Knot), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 3), and the NATO Medal. 

Major Murillo is married to the former Kimberly Beckel of Ft. Worth, Texas. They have a son Gavin and a daughter Madison.
